An update to the official Schedule 1 Trello board has confirmed that employee lockers will soon replace beds in a future patch—a long-requested change by players since the game launched in early access late last month. While beds are currently required for each employee across all properties, many players have voiced concerns that they take up too much space and offer little functional value.
Since its wildly successful early access debut in March, Schedule 1’s solo developer, Tyler, has maintained a steady flow of updates, focusing on community feedback and adding highly anticipated features. The latest patch, released over the weekend, introduced the ability to access employee inventories, fixed several bugs, and brought other minor improvements.
The planned switch from beds to lockers, now listed in the “smaller additions/improvements” section of the game’s Trello roadmap, aims to streamline property layouts. In the current system, employees don’t use beds to sleep—instead, each bed hosts a briefcase that facilitates daily wage payments. However, the visual of idle workers standing in the cold at night, coupled with the space the beds occupy, has led many players to call for a more compact alternative.
Lockers will presumably fulfill the same functional role while freeing up valuable space for production areas, addressing one of the most consistent criticisms since launch.
This change is just one of many community-driven improvements in the pipeline. Tyler has outlined an ambitious roadmap for Schedule 1, including features like traveling customers, police raids, expanded maps, new product types, backpacks, and more. However, with only one developer behind the project, it may take time for these additions to roll out.
