Big changes are coming to Schedule 1, and if you’ve been keeping an eye on the developer streams, you already know things are heating up. In the latest update, developer Tyler unveiled a major overhaul to the employee management system, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Bye-Bye Beds, Hello Lockers
One of the most talked-about changes? Beds are officially out. Instead, lockers are stepping in as the new way to manage your workforce. These metal lockers are more compact, freeing up valuable space, and come with added perks. Not only can you assign workers to specific units through them, but they also double as storage — a sleek, efficient solution that fits perfectly into the game’s evolving design.
Smarter Employee Assignments
Lockers aren’t just a cosmetic swap. The update introduces more granular control over your staff: you can now assign individual workers to specific racks and configure item placements with precision. This means tighter organization and a smoother gameplay loop. The full employee system overhaul is expected to launch by the end of next week, and the current beta already includes faster save/load times and improved SteamCloud error handling.
Let the Players Decide: Voting System Goes Live
In a bold move, the devs are handing over the reins — at least partially — to the players. A brand-new in-game voting system will let the community choose the next major content expansion. Set to kick off in early May, the first vote will feature three exciting paths:
A new psychedelic drug (shrooms)
A police expansion
A cartel-focused update
Whichever option wins will be developed right after the employee update wraps up. Tyler confirmed this isn’t a one-time thing — player voting is here to stay and will help shape the future of the game.
And if you’ve been digging through the files, you may have already noticed a new mansion property tied to the cartel storyline. It’s not available yet, but it will be — and it’ll come with a unique unlock process, different from traditional properties. Some crafty players have already managed to access it through unofficial means.
Coming Soon: Smarter Cops, Bigger Risks
If the police expansion gets the vote, get ready for law enforcement to become a lot more dynamic. Rather than facing a static threat, players will deal with escalating responses as their operations grow. It’ll start with local cops and build up to a fictional DEA-type force. Features in the pipeline include patrol upgrades, dirty cops, bribery mechanics, and even a police helicopter.
This system is designed to add real tension and make high-level play more challenging — and rewarding.
Fishing, Forklifts, and Felonies: Side Content Incoming
Side content is also getting some love. A fishing mini-game is in the works, letting players cast a line at Ry’s fishing hut — with the chance to reel in more than just bass (think: bricks of cocaine). A forklift mini-game is also coming, letting you earn cash by loading pallets using the existing forklift mechanics.
Weapon options are expanding too. The current roster (revolver, M1911) will soon include a new semi-auto pistol with a higher rate of fire and larger magazine, though it comes with slightly reduced damage. Melee options like golf clubs, pool noodles, and tasers are also in the pipeline.
To top it off, a batch of new “odd jobs” are being added, including car theft, breaking into buildings, and swiping mail — all part of the game’s effort to give players more freedom to cause chaos.
Looking Ahead: Weather Effects & Immersive Worlds
As we peer into the future, dynamic weather is also on the horizon. Rain, fog, and storms will add a new layer of environmental depth, slated for release in late June or July. It’s all part of the broader push to make the game world feel more alive and unpredictable.
